Timber Floor Panels

What Makes Timber Floor Panels Different from Other Wood Panels?

Timber floor panels are always considered a separate category from regular boards, siding, and other types of finish wood. There are several reasons for this.

The first is the way timber floor panels are made. The sides of these boards are cut so that they can be fit together to make a huge, sturdy, flat surface. This can be done with tongue-and-groove construction, or they may have grooves so that other pieces can be fit in to hold them. Because of this, floors made from them won't separate into visibly-disconnected boards over time. Individual boards also won't pop up when stepped on.

Next, timber floor panels are sanded until they are very smooth and flat. They may be sold ready for their final finish, or with the finish already applied. Either way, they are not rough-hewn. In contrast, wood siding is often left rough, and standard boards also need at least some sanding before they are truly flat and ready for finishing.

Finally, wood panels for flooring are created with appearance in mind. Right out of the box, they look better than alternatives. This ensures that they will look great on your floor regardless of which wood type you choose.

These are the differences that most people will notice right away when they compare timber floor panels with other types of wood panels. Those in the construction or remodeling business will also notice technical details, such as differences in moisture content and hardness treatment, which help to ensure the longevity of the floor. Each application has different technical specs, and matching them up well is important for overall project quality.

Whether you're a homeowner or a contractor, you will find it well worthwhile to use actual timber floor panels for flooring projects.
